Can Acupuncture and SAAT Alleviate Allergies?

Eye allergies, hay fever, congestion, ear pain, runny nose, watery eyes, puffiness, itching, and wheezing are all discomforts associated with seasonal allergies.

What is an allergy?

An allergy is a hypersensitivity to environmental conditions. This hypersensitivity may be seasonal or perennial and results in the inflammation and irritation of the mucous membranes, stuffy nose, runny eyes, and sneezing. Allergies can be intermittent or become chronic.

Causes of allergies

Like any other allergy, allergies typically occur due to environmental factors or foods. As a result, our bodies' immune systems make antibodies that release histamines and other chemicals into the eyes. As a result, allergies may cause temporary vision blurriness, sneezing, and congestion, which should resolve within days. However, if the effects persist, consult your doctor. Seasonal allergies happen at particular times, and triggers include pollen, animal dander, insect stings, or airborne allergens. People most at risk for developing allergies are children and individuals with asthma or a family history of asthma. Perennial allergies last year-round and are typically caused by environmental factors such as dust mites, allergens, or pets.

Symptoms and treatment for allergy

Typical allergy symptoms are itching, redness, burning, swelling, tearing up, sneezing, or nasal congestion. Wearing sunglasses helps protect from light sensitivity, direct wind, and pollen. Lifestyle choices that contribute to cleanliness help to reduce other allergens. Many people resort to at-home treatment and self-help. However, many allergies can be treated with over-the-counter medications such as (refrigerated) eyedrops and anti-histamines. It's also a good idea to isolate the cause of the allergy and reduce exposure. Severe allergies may require corticosteroids and more extended treatment regimens. In addition to traditional treatment, alternative therapies can be remarkably effective.

How can acupuncture/SAAT help?

Acupuncture improves the blood flow to target healing and cell regeneration. Eye-specific acupuncture treatment also releases endorphins, reducing itching, redness, and pain. In addition, acupuncture improves immunity and, therefore, resistance to allergens by stimulating circulation. Dr. Paul Nogier first initiated SAAT in 1956. The treatment method involves acupuncture and the outer ear area. Later Dr. Nader Soliman further refined the SAAT (Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment) method. SAAT is a one-time treatment to eliminate seasonal, food, medication, and environmental allergies.

Running into Spring: Add Acupuncture into Your Training Routine

Wintertime often shows different training routines for athletes, particularly runners who find themselves training indoors on equipment instead of battling the chilly weather. As Spring approaches, long pants will be traded in for shorts and feet will begin to hit the pavement once again. During the first few weeks of adjusting to warmer weather, the body tends to creak and moan, often placing runners at a higher probability for injuries. Fast Relief Acupuncture specializes in therapies that aim to prevent and treat athlete’s injuries and sustain a healthy lifestyle during each season of their career.

By adding regular acupuncture treatments into your training routine, you are adding in a wealth of beneficial measures that will supply long-lasting advantages to running. Fast Relief Acupuncture has compiled our top 5 favorite benefits of Acupuncture for runners in the Spring:

  1. 1
Acupuncture therapies improve circulation – Blood circulation is one of the most important aspects of running. After all, it is what gets oxygen to your heart, lungs and extremities and pushes you to the lengths your body can go. Acupuncture techniques, such as needling, improves blood circulation throughout the body by encouraging movement which reduces inflammation and promotes self-healing. This process creates a healthier environment for faster healing and recovery.
  2. 2
Fast Relief Acupuncture uses Cupping Therapy - Like a deep tissue massage, Cupping Therapy allows relaxation of tight muscles as it promotes blood flow, reduces inflammation, and decreases pain. Runners often use Cupping Therapy to heal injuries or, most commonly, as a preventive measure.
  3. 3
Acupuncture can help strengthen the immune system - Having a healthy immune system is important during intense training schedules. Being sick, even for just a few days, can throw off an athlete’s ability to train to their full potential, especially runners. Regular acupuncture treatments, 1-2 times every week, can boost the body’s immune system by increasing the production of red and white blood cells and T-Cells. These cells make up the body’s defense system.
  4. 4
Encouraging sleep and rest is a top priority for health - One of the main ways that our body relaxes, rejuvenates and re-sets is sleep and rest. Acupuncture promotes a relaxing environment, enabling the release of Endorphins and Relaxin, two hormones responsible for stress-relief. When the body is better relaxed, it is more apt to enter a natural, routine sleep schedule. Fast Relief Acupuncture also encourages athletes to take a day off from training to let the body re-coup. Acupuncture appointment days are great for taking the rest of the day slowly.
  5. 5
Reducing proneness to injuries is one of the most important aspects - Acupuncture helps minimize the chance of runners obtaining injuries during their training schedules, especially after coming out of a slow winter. When the body can manage self-healing processes naturally and systems are balanced, injuries are less likely to happen. Combining good circulation, specialized therapies, a strengthened immune system, and the proper amount of sleep and rest, runners can often enjoy a full training season with less injuries and more training time.

Fast Relief Acupuncture specializes in sports medicine practices, including keeping runners on the road by supplying preventive treatments, innovative acupuncture therapies, and knowledge to use even in the off seasons. We will never let you cross the finish line alone. Call Fast Relief Acupuncture today to get started running the race to your ultimate health goals!

SAAT: A Fresh, New Outlook on Acupuncture

The time of the year has come when allergies invade your daily activities. Instead of enjoying a beautiful Fall day at the local pumpkin patch, you are left sneezing and wiping a runny nose. But, for all you allergy sufferers. there is good news! Fast Relief Acupuncture can bring allergy-free Autumn days back to life! Our practice is introducing a new acupuncture technique that fights off allergies even better than Claritin can! Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT for short) is a technique that aims to permanently stop those pesky allergic reactions.

What is SAAT?

In 1956, Dr. Paul Nogier discovered a new way of treating the body by using acupuncture. His new treatment exclusively involved the outer ear and proved to treat many ailments, including allergies. A short time later, Dr. Nader Soliman refined Nogier's method and eventually developed Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment, which specifically used acupuncture to treat and eliminate allergies in a natural way.

Dr. Nader Soliman's discovery has helped thousands of people, like you, overcome serious allergies; even people who were told they would suffer life-long reactions!

Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment is a one-time treatment that works to eliminate not only seasonal allergies, but also allergic reactions to food, medications and toxins.

With one treatment, patients can be on the road to becoming allergy-free!

Does SAAT really work?

Yes, it does! We will explain how.

Allergies can develop at any time during someone's life. One's immune system will work extra hard to fight off what it believes to be a foreign substance by producing Immunoglobulin E. This process will consequently cause an allergic reaction to take place. SAAT works to essentially re-set the immune system and re-program the body!

Dr. Nader Soliman utilized over 10 years of studies and clinical experience to produce a 90% success rate at minimizing patient's allergic reactions and even eliminating them altogether.

What makes SAAT different from taking allergy medications?

SAAT stimulates the immune system response to eliminate the allergy, but in a natural way! Many of our patients have been taking allergy medications or administering allergy shots for years. Our new treatment is so much more cost effective compared to any other method on the market. Not only is it a onetime treatment rather than a monthly ordeal, but it is a natural way of healing the body and enabling one to enjoy life without allergies.

How do I set up an appointment?

We have two convenient locations: Closter, NJ & Franklin Lakes, NJ.  Please feel free to call to make an appointment or click "request appointment" on our home page and make sure to specify you are looking for SAAT treatments. We look forward to treating you!

Is it a Cold? Is it Seasonal Allergies? Is it COVID 19? How to Tell The Difference!

It’s Spring time 2020 and typically most people during this time of the year worry about having seasonal allergy or cold symptoms. However with the current COVID 19 pandemic going around the world, many people are worried about catching the viral infection. This life threatening virus has similar symptoms as the flu, cold, or allergy such as nose drips, coughs, sneezing, throat tickle, etc.. but how can you tell if you have a cold, seasonal allergies, the flu, or COVID 19? Listed below are some of the symptoms and the key differences and what you should do if you have these symptoms (note: These suggestions and descriptions are from Harvard Medical School, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology).

COVID 19 Symptoms (Symptoms can appear within 5 days after exposure but can take up to 14 days):

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Lack of taste or smell
  • Less common: diarrhea, vomiting, or nausea

What should I do if I have it? Please contact your doctor or your local board of health to seek further testing and treatment. Make sure there is testing available at your medical facility.

Seasonal Allergy Symptoms (It’s spring time with flowers and trees blooming which means that pollen count will be high):

  • Two indicators that you have seasonal allergies are if you have a history of having springtime allergies and if ‘itching’ is prominent of your symptoms
  • Itchy eyes
  • Itchy nose
  • Sneezing
  • Runny and/ or congested nose
  • Sore throat
  • Coughing (mostly due to post nasal drip)

What should I do if I have it? You can consult with your doctor but for the most part over the counter medication antihistamines usually help. Prescription medications from medical doctors for allergy can help. Also, Fast Relief Acupuncture offers a very safe, natural, and effective method of relieving allergy symptoms. Click here for more information on how acupuncture can help.

Common Cold Symptoms:

  • Runny nose
  • Congested nose
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Feeling ‘unwell’

Flu Symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • Exhaustion
  • Comes on sudden
  • Runny nose
